Alabaster in Motion
Poppo Shiraishi paints himself alabaster white for Transearth, fusing Butoh dance with improv, heavy metal, T’ai chi, and yoga. Joining him against a backdrop of 401 bricks are his 15 GoGo Boys (11 of whom are women). With a score by Nigel Ayers’ Nocturnal Emissions, originators of "video scratching," Transearth plays at La MaMa’s Annex Theater, Thur.-Sun. Oct 91-11 at 7.30
